Driver seen towing car on motorway using seatbelts

Police said the driver was seen using seatbelts to tow a car with dangerous tyres

A driver has been cautioned by police after being caught towing a car on the motorway using seatbelts that were tied together.

Staffordshire Police said a brown Volkswagen Passat was discovered pulling a blue Volkswagen Touran at 40mph in lane one of the M6 near Stafford at about 02:00 BST on Tuesday.

They said the tyres of the blue Touran were in a dangerous condition and that the driver was found to have been disqualified from driving and uninsured.

The vehicles were seized, they added.
