Part of the A3 in Surrey will be closed this weekend as work to reduce congestion and increase safety on the road continues.

The road will be closed in both directions between junction 10 of the M25 and the Painshill roundabout from 21:00 GMT on Friday until 06:00 on Monday.

National Highways has put diversions in place during these times. A full list of routes can be found on its website.

The project began in 2022 and is due to finish in spring next year, at a cost of roughly £317m.

Engineers are working to add a new lane to the A3 at its junction with the M25.

So far, two new gyratory bridge lanes for traffic have opened and a further two will open once the widening project is complete.
