Man in hospital with head injury after pub assault

An investigation is taking place after a man suffered a head injury in an assault in a Nottinghamshire pub.

Police have made an arrest following the attack in Derby Road, Stapleford, shortly after 01:00 GMT on Saturday.

A spokesperson for Nottinghamshire Police confirmed a man in his 40s is currently in hospital.

A 46-year-old man was arrested at the scene on suspicion of grievous bodily harm with intent and remains in custody, the force added.

Det Sgt Dave Smith said inquiries were ongoing into what happened and urged anyone with information or mobile phone footage to contact police.
