Travel cards used to pay for tickets are being withdrawn from buses in Swindon.

The Swindon Bus Company says the cards - now more than 10 years old - are "old technology" and "unreliable".

Customers are being asked to switch to the company's app instead.

From 3 November, passengers will not be able to buy tickets on their travelcard and any preloaded tickets will need to be used by next April.

"Earlier this year we were able to introduce our travelpass products onto our app, which can now be scanned by Stagecoach buses too," the bus company added.

People can also instead use 'tap on tap off' contactless payment or the mobile app to buy tickets.

The company said there are tutorial videos on its app to help with any problems.
