A 45-year-old man has been arrested in an investigation into the whereabouts of a woman who has not been seen for almost four months.

Detectives are seeking information about Charlene Hobbs, 35, from the Riverside area of Cardiff, who was last seen at about 10:30 BST on 19 July at Cardiff Bay Retail Park.

South Wales Police said the man, from nearby Adamsdown, was being questioned at Cardiff Bay police station.

Det Chief Insp Matt Davies said officers were "keeping an open mind as to Charlene's whereabouts but we are very concerned for her wellbeing".

"Any information, no matter how insignificant you may think it is, could help us to find her," he said.

"I also want to appeal directly to Charlene. If you are reading this, please contact the police to let us know that you are safe."
