Police investigating a series of hare coursing events and "abhorrent" violent disorder have made three more arrests.

Cambridgeshire Police said dozens of 4x4s caused havoc in fields and villages across the Fens on Saturday 25 January, causing widespread damage.

The force said two men, aged 22 and 51, were arrested in Essex this morning - while a 46-year-old man was arrested in Peterborough this afternoon.

Two men from Lincolnshire arrested on Friday morning were released on bail while investigations continue.

A local councillor previously said lives were put at risk when vehicles, reportedly driven by men in balaclavas, sped through places such as Manea and surrounding farmland.

Police said they received "multiple complaints" about incidents in Fordham, Ely, Prickwillow, Littleport, Welney, Chatteris, Manea, Wimblington and Doddington.

Officers seized four vehicles, three in Grantham and one in Essex, as well as hare coursing equipment.

Local policing commander, Sup Int Ben Martin, said: "We still have a lot of work to do to bring those responsible for this abhorrent criminality to justice but are working closely with our policing colleagues across the country to do all we can and will continue to make arrests in the coming days and weeks."

Police said the two men released on bail must to return to Thorpe Wood Police Station at a later date.

Their bail conditions include that they "must not shout at, swear at, or intimidate any persons" in 12 different counties in the East of England and the East Midlands.
