A man has been convicted of raping a doctor in a late-night attack in Glasgow city centre.
Mihai Nicolae Patran assaulted the 27-year-old stranger as she walked along Mitchell Street in the early hours of 26 November 2023.
The victim eventually escaped naked from the waist down to the safety of a taxi.
Patran was later arrested and went on to perform a sex act on himself while sitting in the dock during his first court appearance.
The 34-year-old from Romania faces a lengthy jail-term after being found guilty of the crimes at the High Court in Glasgow.
The doctor told how she had been at a house party and had intended to join friends going out later.
After a delay she got a taxi on her own but did not have any contact numbers for the others.
While walking on Mitchell Street she felt a touch on her arm a man emerged from an alleyway.
The woman recalled mentally freezing at this stage, and said he used aggressive, commanding words to her.
She went on to describe her ordeal and said she told Patran to stop on multiple occasions.
The victim said: "I do not think I could have made it any more apparent that I did not want any of it."
Patran 'groped himself' in court
The woman told jurors she eventually got away from the attacker, ran down the road and called for a taxi that arrived quickly.
She went on to text a friend and her sister what had happened.
Patran - who had no permanent address - was arrested following a probe into the attack.
He lodged a special defence during the trial that the doctor had consented to sex.
Days after the attack he appeared in the dock at Glasgow Sheriff Court handcuffed to a female custody officer.
But the court was told that during the hearing she spotted Patran groping himself.
The officer said she was shocked by his actions and the presiding sheriff was alerted.
It also emerged Patran had flashed himself to a woman on a train between Perth and Stirling on 22 October 2023.
Patran was found guilty of all three charges.
He remains in custody and was put on the sex offenders register, pending sentencing next month.
