A paramedic was attacked while treating an injured man at Hampden Park during the Celtic and Rangers League Cup semi-final.
The assault was one of three attacks that took place around the match on Sunday, which Celtic won 3-1 after extra time.
The Scottish Ambulance Service said it strongly condemned violence against staff, while Police Scotland are now investigating the incident, which happened about 16:00 as the match entered extra time.
Supt Paul Douglas said all three attacks were "unprovoked" and "vile" assaults.
One incident took place in the West Stand at Hampden, where Rangers fans were congregated.
Paramedics had been called to treat an injured man.
While in attendance, a 49-year-old member of the medical team was assaulted and treated by colleagues at the scene.
The suspect is described as a white male of slim build, with brown hair and wearing black clothing.
Two other assaults were also reported.

A 51-year-old man was assaulted on Victoria Road at about 12:00 by a man wearing a black jacket, a black hat and black trousers.
Then at about 17:00 on Battlefield Road, near Mount Florida railway station, an 18-year-old man was assaulted by about 12 masked individuals.
The victim was taken to University Hospital Hairmyres in East Kilbride for treatment.
Supt Douglas said: "All of these vile assaults were unprovoked and left the victims terrified.
"It is completely unacceptable that someone simply doing their job or someone simply walking home has been injured due to violence. We will use the full extent of our powers to hold those responsible to account."
Anyone with any details on the incidents has been asked to contact Police Scotland, external.
A Scottish Ambulance Service spokesperson added: "We strongly condemn violence and aggression against our staff. It is not acceptable.
"They have the right to carry out their work helping patients and saving lives without fear of assault or abuse."
