Armed forces personnel will be honoured at Remembrance Sunday services across Derbyshire later.

Thousands of people, including veterans and current servicemen and women, will attend events, with many involved in a parade ahead of the nationwide two-minute silence at 11:00 GMT.

A large-scale service will be held in Derby along with events in other towns and villages across the county.

Road closures and changes to parking will also be in place on Sunday.

From 10:45, Derby City Council said members of local veteran and youth organisations would parade through the city centre onto the Market Place, accompanied by the Salvation Army Band.

Following this, a short service led by the Lord Bishop of Derby is scheduled for 10:55, during which a two-minute silence will be observed.

Unlike in recent years, the council said troops from the Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers 148 Divisional Support Company would not be parading, however several local youth and veteran organisations have been invited to take part as in previous years.

Surtal Arts Community Choir, a Derby-based South Asian arts organisation, will also be performing on the Market Place at 10:15, before the arrival of the parade, the council said.

It added there would be road closures in place on Sunday from 8:00 to 13:00 at Sowter Road, from its junction with St Michael's Lane, Full Street, from its junction with Queen Street, Amen Alley and Derwent Street, from its junction with Exeter Place.

Road closures would also be in place on Corporation Street, Tennant Street, St James's Street, from the pedestrianised area, Corn Market and Iron Gate.

The Council House car park would be closed to the public from 16:00 on Saturday until 14:00 on Sunday, the council said.

Chesterfield Borough Council said there would be a service at St Mary and All Saints' Church (the Crooked Spire), at 14:30 followed by a parade through the town centre before a short ceremony at the War Memorial.

The church service on Sunday was open to all but anyone wishing to attend should arrive by 14:00 to take their seat, the council said.

Chesterfield's poppy cascade will also be in place on the front of Chesterfield Town Hall.

After the service concludes at about 15:00, there will be a parade from St Mary and All Saints' Church, through Burlington Street, High Street, Glumangate onto Rose Hill.

The parade will be led by the Mayor and Mayoress of Chesterfield, together with other dignitaries from Derbyshire, the council said.

They will be joined by members of the Armed Forces, ex-services organisations and uniformed youth organisations from Chesterfield.

At about 15:30 there will be a wreath laying ceremony at the War Memorial opposite the Town Hall on Rose Hill before the parade is dismissed at about 16:00.

Ilkeston: A parade to Ilkeston's Market Place Cenotaph, external – where wreaths will be laid at 10:45 – will set off from the town's South Street car park, Erewash Borough Council said.

People have been asked by the authority to gather there prior to 10:15 to join the procession.

Mayor Harry Atkinson will lead the council's tributes following his attendance at a 10:00 service in St Mary's Church, the council added.

Swadlincote: A parade will form at 10:30 at the old bandstand in Eureka Park, before setting off at 10:40.

South Derbyshire District Council, external said the parade would march down to the Bevin Boys Memorial- where a service will take place at 10:50.

Following a two minute silence, wreath laying will take place at 11:02, before the national anthem at 11:15.

Ashbourne: A parade will leave the Market Place alongside the Town Hall at 10:15.

The Royal British Legion Ashbourne, Ashbourne Town Mayor and Civic Dignitaries, veterans and cadets will take part in the parade.

It will then make its way to St Oswald's Church, external, where the service will take place.

Matlock: The town council said the main service, external would take place in Park Head at 15:00.

Long Eaton: Erewash Borough Council said a parade , externalwould take place from West Gate to the nearby war memorial where ceremonies would begin at 10:40.
