A man has been arrested after a cyclist was pushed off a seawall while riding alongside a beach.

The woman, in her 60s, had been cycling along Culver Parade in Sandown, on the Isle of Wight, on Tuesday at about 15:10 BST.

She was reportedly pushed off her bike and needed hospital treatment for her injuries after plunging several feet onto the beach below, Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary said.

The force said a 38-year-old man from Ryde had been arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm with intent. He remains in police custody.
