A cordon was put in place across a road in Bottesford following a gas leak.

Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service (LFRS) confirmed it was called at 05:25 BST on Thursday to a gas main leak in Grantham Road.

Two fire crews were sent to the scene, alongside gas distribution company Cadent.

Cadent said the road was closed between the junctions of Walkers Close and Easthorpe Close.

A spokesperson for Cadent said: "We received a call just before 5am this morning to tell us that a gas main in Grantham Road, Bottesford, was leaking.

"Our teams were quickly dispatched to the site to assess the situation and then work on making the pipework safe as quickly as possible."
