Police are appealing for witnesses after a car was damaged in Cornwall and reports of suspects having weapons, including "bladed articles and possibly a bat".

Devon and Cornwall Police said between 19:30 and 21:00 BST on 30 August, a number of suspects were seen smashing the windows of a car and letting down its tyres in the car park at Polkyth Leisure Centre on Carlyon Road in St Austell.

Police said: "It was further reported that some of the suspects were seen in possession of bladed articles and possibly a bat."

The suspects then fled the scene along an alleyway that runs to the rear of the town library, police added.

Police arrested a 14-year-old boy from St Austell on suspicion of criminal damage and possession of an offensive weapon in a public place who has since been released on police bail while inquiries continue.

Anyone with information or relevant footage have been asked to contact police.
