A woman has been charged with manslaughter and neglect after the death of a care home resident in Gloucester three years ago.

Jane Barnard, 65, from Longlevens, was working at Wheatridge Court in Abbeydale when 75-year-old Derek Davies died.

He died on 8 September 2021 after being admitted to Gloucestershire Royal Hospital.

Gloucestershire Police say the charges follow an investigation by the force's Public Protection Unit.

"A woman has been charged with manslaughter and neglect in connection with the death of a Gloucester care home resident in 2021," they said.

"Following an investigation by the Constabulary's Public Protection Unit, the Crown Prosecution Service authorised charges for the manslaughter of Mr Davies and ill-treat/wilful neglect of him."

Ms Barnard is due to appear at Cheltenham Magistrates Court on Wednesday.
