Children's hospital gift appeal launched

The donated presents will be delivered to children at East Surrey Hospital

Surrey Fire and Rescue Service is calling on the public to help make this Christmas a little brighter for children who will be spending time in hospital over the festive period.

From now until 19 December, Reigate Fire Station will serve as a drop-off point for new toy donations, which will be distributed to children at East Surrey Hospital and other local children’s services if there is an excess.

The initiative aims to bring festive cheer to boys and girls aged from newborn to 16.

Donations can be dropped off at Reigate Fire Station between 09:00 and 21:00 GMT.

All donated gifts must be new and non-perishable

To ensure fairness and meet hospital guidelines, all gifts must be new, unwrapped and not include money, food or perishable items.

"We’re encouraging the community to come together and support this wonderful cause. Let’s make sure every child has a gift to open this Christmas," said watch commander Cameron Cornish.

"By donating, you’ll help make a difficult time in hospital a little less stressful for these children, while also supporting our NHS colleagues who are working hard to care for them during the festive season."
