An 18-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of arson after a fire broke out in a former nightclub.

Emergency services from across Wiltshire were called at 03:44 GMT on Thursday to reports of a fire inside the ex-Lava Lounge building in Fleet Street, Swindon.

About 50 firefighters were on the scene from 04:00 GMT to get the fire under control and road closures put in place, Wiltshire Police said.

The force said the man is currently in custody and enquiries into the cause of the fire are ongoing.

Dorset and Wiltshire Fire Service said it arrived to find a "well-developed" fire inside the building.

Several buses were diverted and Fleet Street, Holbrook Way and Milford Street were closed during the day.

Wiltshire Police has urged anyone with CCTV or information to contact them.
