A pedestrian aged in his 70s has died after a crash involving a car, police have said.

The incident took place on Exeter Street, Salisbury, shortly before 06:00 GMT on Friday.

Wiltshire Police said the incident involved a pedestrian, who was near his van, and a car. The man’s next of kin have been informed and no arrests have been made, a police spokesperson added.

Officers have warned motorists to expect "significant delays" as road closures are in place on Exeter Street between St Ann Street and the Churchill Way roundabout.

The road is expected to remain shut for a "number of hours", police have confirmed.

The force's serious collision investigation team is appealing for witnesses or anyone who may have recorded dash cam footage to come forward.
