Drivers will face a series of closures on roads around Beverley as part of the A164 Jock's Lodge improvement scheme.

As well as overnight road closures in September and October on the A1079, A164 and Minster Way, there will be road and footpath closures in place until July 2025.

The Jock's Lodge junction links two of East Yorkshire's busiest roads - the A164 (Beverley to the Humber Bridge) and the A1079 (Hull to York).

The scheme, funded and managed by East Riding of Yorkshire Council, is expected to be complete in 2026.

The road closures are:

  • The A164 will be closed between Regiment/Morrison’s roundabout and Lincoln Way roundabout on 13 September and 16 September between 19:00 BST and 05:00 for work by Yorkshire Water.

  • Lincoln Way (A164) and Minster Way will be closed to westbound traffic between Victoria roundabout/Morrison’s roundabout and Ward Way roundabout from 05:00 on14 October 2024 to midnight on 12 July 2025. During this time, the eastbound lane will remain open.

  • Also from 05:00 on14 October 2024 to midnight on Saturday 12 July 2025, the road between Lincoln Way roundabout and the junction with Dunnock Drive will be closed to all traffic due to the construction of the new highway, including deep drainage excavations.

  • The footpaths between Victoria/Morrison’s roundabout, and the Pegasus crossing on Minster Way at Shepherd’s Lane and between Lincoln Way roundabout and the junction with Dunnock Drive will be closed from 16 September 2024 to 12 July 2025 to facilitate reconstruction of the Lincoln Way roundabout.

  • The A1079 Beverley bypass will be closed for up to four nights between 7 October and 17 October between19:00 and 05:00 so the workforce can safely move the current contraflow to the opposite carriageway. The closure area will stretch from Killingwoldgraves Roundabout to Dunswell Roundabout and will affect both directions. ERYC said exact dates would be confirmed as soon as possible.
