A man was arrested at a McDonald's drive-thru as part of a series of targeted drug swoops by the police.

Officers detained the 28-year-old in Southend-on-Sea amid an operation against immigration crime and drug-related offences in south Essex on Wednesday.

Essex Police said 31 wraps of suspected Class A drugs, £1,200 and three mobile phones were seized during the action, which saw three men arrested in total.

They remained in custody on Thursday as inquiries continued, the force added.

"We remain committed to tackling organised criminality, including drug dealing offences in our county," Supt Phil Stinger said.

"Operations such as these allow our officers to target those suspected in these offences and take them off the streets, subsequently stopping drugs from getting in the hands of vulnerable people."
