Work begins on Monday to turn a city suburb into an urban green space.

Southampton City Council has released an artist's impression of the proposed changes to Bitterne Precinct.

The project, funded by the Community Infrastructure Levy, will introduce what the council has called a "play and park destination".

It is expected to take 12 weeks to complete and will include surfaced routes to play areas, exercise and hangout areas, and green spaces.

The work comes after a 2022 consultation where 50% of respondents said they were dissatisfied with the current green space in Bitterne.
