An event is taking place to mark 200 years since the Cornish patriotic song Trelawny was written.

The Reverend Robert Stephen Hawker, who was the vicar of Morwenstow from 1834 until his death in 1875, wrote the song in 1825. This year also marks 150 years since his death.

On Saturday and Sunday, people will gather at Morwenstow Community Centre and Morwenstow Church to look back on the life of the town's former reverend.

A service led by the Right Reverend David Williams, the 17th Bishop of Truro, will take place on Sunday at 15:00 BST at the church.

Live music will be played alongside cream teas that will be served to guests on both days at the community centre.

There will also be a display of Mr Hawker's life in the Morwenstow Community Centre shop where his life will be illustrated with items from the collection of "Hawkeriana".
