The driver of a £100,000 supercar which smashed into a house and was engulfed in a fireball has been jailed.

Zachary Hocking was driving at an average speed of 91mph (146kph) in a 30mph zone when he lost control of the McLaren 570gt V8 and ploughed into the property on Heyhouses Lane in Lytham St Annes, Lancashire.

Both Hocking and his passenger - a man in his 20s who was thrown about 25m (82ft) from the wreckage - suffered serious injuries in the December 2023 crash, a Lancashire Police spokesperson added.

Hocking, 28, admitted causing serious injury by dangerous driving and was sentenced at Preston Crown Court to 28 months in prison.

The car and the house both caught fire but no-one inside the property was injured.

Hocking, of Grand Manor Drive in Lytham St Annes, was also banned from driving for 74 months.

He will also have to pass an extended test before being allowed to get his licence back.

Insp Greg Laidlow said: "Hocking drove in an extremely reckless and selfish manner, resulting in the collision which left both himself and his passenger badly injured and a house badly damaged by fire.

"You only need to look at the wreckage of the car to conclude it's a miracle that no-one was killed."
