A man has been charged in connection with an incident in which a car was allegedly driven the wrong way on the M1.
The driver of a blue Audi A4 failed to stop for police on Friday, leading to a pursuit from Altofts to Stanley, back to Altofts and then the M62 and against the flow of traffic on the M1 northbound, according to West Yorkshire Police.
The Audi came to a stop on the hard shoulder near the Sharp Lane bridge after suffering a puncture.
Mohammed Malik, 34, of Church Road, Altofts, was due to appear before Leeds Magistrates' Court on Monday charged with dangerous driving, failing to provide a specimen, driving without insurance and possession of Class A drugs, a force spokesperson said.
