Leisure centre changing rooms close for Raac repairs

A leisure centre's changing facilities that were found to have crumbling concrete have been closed to allow repair work to take place.
Leisure at Cheltenham was partially closed in April after Raac (reinforced autoclaved aerated concrete) was found in the building's ceiling tiles.
As part of the third phase of the Raac repair work, the changing facilities were closed on Monday.
Cheltenham Trust, which operates the site for Cheltenham Borough Council, said the work is expected to take 11 weeks to complete and temporary portable cabins are available for customers to use.
The cabins, which are sited in the car park, include accessible showers, toilets and changing facilities.
Raac, a lightweight material that was used mostly in flat roofing, but also in floors and walls between the 1950s and 1990s, is a cheaper alternative to standard concrete and has a lifespan of about 30 years.
Hundreds of schools closed in the autumn of 2023 due to issues discovered with Raac.
