A community has come together to raise money for a minibus that will bring vulnerable women to support services.

The vehicle will enable more women across Somerset to access the support The Nelson Trust offers from a centre in Bridgwater.

The charity has raised more than £30,000 over the past year and a half.

Gemma Berry, from the trust in Somerset, said: "It feels amazing, it wouldn't be possible without the support from the local community."

The Nelson Trust offers a lifeline for women with multiple and complex needs.

Ms Berry added: "In some towns, the buses only run every few hours and it can be a real struggle for women to attend appointments when they are physically isolated.

"The vehicle will enable us to transport women to appointments."

The charity says it is still trying to decide the best vehicle to buy, but hopes staff will be using it within the next few weeks.
