A stretch of the M4 through Berkshire has been closed after a lorry fire.

The motorway westbound, between junction 6 at Slough and junctions 8 and 9 at Maidenhead, was shut on Thursday afternoon from about 16:00 GMT.

National Highways said fire crews remained on the scene to dampen the load of hay the lorry was carrying and ensure it did not reignite.

The road remained closed with diversions in place at 22:00 GMT, according to National Highways.
