New cycle racks at Warwick Racecourse

A number of bicycles are locked to two lines of bicycle racks on a small patch of concrete. To the right side, a small road leads to a white metal gate, and there is wooden fence behind and alongside the bikes. Behind that is a green racecourse with some trees, and houses in the background. New secure cycle parking has been installed at a racecourse in Warwickshire.

The facilities, which provide space for 20 bikes, are located in the Bread and Meat Close car park at Warwick Racecourse.

The installation of the cycle stands was led by the racecourse's parkrun group, Warwick District and Warwickshire County Council.

Councillor Will Roberts said the new addition would help reduce car travel to the weekly parkrun event.

He said: "This is a fantastic addition to the Racecourse that supports active travel and provides a secure place for people to store their bikes."

The run directors from Warwick Racecourse parkrun added: "The new bike racks at Warwick Racecourse are close to our start line, making it easier for our participants to cycle to their Saturday morning 5K.

"Cycling to parkrun is a brilliant way to warm up your legs and reduce your carbon footprint, and you won't need to worry about finding a parking space.

"We'd love to see more of our community arriving by bike."
