Exmouth police urge people to report bad driving
- Published
People in Exmouth are being urged to report dangerous driving to the police.
Officers said offences included careless driving, driving while using a mobile phone and driving through red lights.
Devon and Cornwall Police said anyone with digital footage of potential offences in the area could submit it online as part of Operation Snap (Op Snap).
The force said it had taken action against nearly 10,000 motorists since Op Snap was set up in the region in 2019.
'Anti-social minority'
Insp Grant Leitch said: "Exmouth and the roads around it are very busy with lots of vehicles.
"Drivers are not always as patient as they should be and some dangerous drivers may be tempted to drive too fast or attempt risky manoeuvres to try and get somewhere a bit quicker.
"Most motorists in the town are law-abiding and we are grateful for the public's help to catch the anti-social minority who cause problems and misery for others."
Op Snap allows footage to be submitted from various sources including dashcams, helmet cameras and video doorbells.
Devon and Cornwall Police said more than 6,000 videos were submitted via Op Snap throughout 2023, making it the busiest year in the operation's history.
