A busy Derbyshire bridge will be closed to traffic overnight while works take place next week.

National Highways said it will need to shut the A5132 Carriers Road/The Castle Way bridge over the A38 at Egginton.

The closures are required to allow surveyors to assess work that might be required in future to keep the crossing safe.

Road closures will begin at 20:00 GMT on Monday and run nightly from 20:00 to 06:00, until Friday.

National Highways said motorists can follow a signed diversion via the A38 while work takes place, but drivers should allow extra time for their journeys.
