A woman living just metres from a new warehouse development says she feels "let down" by a council after it consulted the wrong street over a planning application.

Georgie Wallis believes her house in Hooke Close, Corby, will lose value because of its proximity to the warehouse, currently under construction.

Rather than consulting residents in her road - next to the construction site - council planning officers mistakenly went to Hubble Road, about half a mile (750m) away.

North Northamptonshire Council said, despite the mix-up, the development was lawful.

The council approved the new warehouse project on the former Weetabix site in November, as first reported by the Northamptonshire Telegraph, external.

Ms Wallis said: "I just feel very let down. If I was consulted, I would have objected, like many others.”

She has started a social media campaign to appeal against the building's construction.

“It’s active and noisy right now; what’s it going to be like when it’s a 24/7 operation?" she said.

Jason Smithers, Conservative leader of the council, apologised for the error over consultation.

But he confirmed the development "remains lawful as a notice was placed at the site and a press advert was published - which fulfils the statutory part of the process".
