A man described as an "aggressive beggar" by police has been jailed after spitting at a woman.

Jason Allum, of Edgecombe, Cambridge, was sentenced to two years and one month in prison.

The 38-year-old pleaded guilty to assault and to breaching his Criminal Behaviour Order (CBO) 14 times between 12 July and 2 August.

In one incident on 27 July, he spat at the woman, who was unknown to him, in Petty Cury in the city.

PC Laura O'Flynn said Allum had been "supported extensively" by professionals in the police, probation, housing, mental health services and drug and alcohol service .

"Despite extensive work to assist and support him, Allum has continued to breach the CBO, and this sentence today reflects the impact his behaviour is having within our community," she said.

The force said all the 14 incidents were captured on CCTV.
