Plans for a Starbucks drive-thru have been given the go-ahead despite noise and pollution concerns.

Tewkesbury Borough Council approved the application submitted by Gloucester BP Developments Ltd for the coffee shop at Gloucester Business Park in Brockworth.

Hucclecote Parish Council and a number of residents had stated their objections to the proposals.

Consultants working on the scheme said it would be a high-quality project and contribute positively to the local economy.

The plot granted for use is on undeveloped land north of Delta Way at the business park, according to the Local Democracy Reporting Service.

Several residents raised concerns over loss of privacy, significant noise, air pollution and the loss of green space.

One objector said: "There is a local business park around the corner, which has a Greggs and Costa.

"What is the need for another cafe? Not to mention there is a Starbucks already on Eastern Avenue."

Another resident added: "Residents' children should not be subject to the expected level of pollution within a few meters of where they play."

The parish council also mentioned the development being close to residential homes in its objection, but the plans were given permission by the borough council.
