Bridgerton garden opens to public for one day

Bridgerton filming took place for two weeks at Squerryes Court in August 2022

A private garden in Kent which features in the new series of hit TV show Bridgerton is to open to the public for one day.

Squerryes Court, in Westerham, where a party was filmed for season three of the popular Netflix series is opening on Friday as part of the National Garden Scheme.

Filming took place in August 2022 for two weeks involving a team of 350 crew members and actors.

Henry Warde, owner of the 17th Century house and estate, said it was a "fascinating experience to watch the Bridgerton team transform the garden into the set".

Mr Warde said the production crew spent a week transforming the garden into a "suitably ostentatious Bridgerton garden party".

Season three of the hit series launched on Thursday and Squerryes Court can be seen in the trailer.

Mr Warde said the family’s inquisitive cocker spaniel, Inca, escaped during an important filming moment and ran across the set.

"We're waiting to see whether she has a fleeting appearance or not," he added.

Squerryes Court has featured in many film and TV projects over the years, including Emma (2009), The Boat That Rocked (2009), The Hollow Crown: Henry V (2012) and The Larkins (2022).

As a private residence, it is not open to the general public although it is available for private hire and weddings.

Squerryes is raising money for Cancer Research by opening its grounds on Friday for the National Garden Scheme.

Henry Warde said: "Anyone who’d like to come see where the filming took place and have their own Bridgerton moment is welcome."
