A major road in North Lincolnshire will be closed in both directions at the weekend as repairs are carried out to a bridge, National Highways has confirmed.

The M180 will be closed between junction two and three from 20:00 on Friday until 06:00 BST on Monday 13 May.

The Mutton Lane Bridge was severely damaged after it was hit by a lorry in 2023.

Officials have apologised for the inconvenience and said the work is due to be completed by the end of June.

Further overnight closures are expected on the westbound carriageway on 13 and 22 May from 20:00 to 06:00 BST. An overnight closure is also expected eastbound on 23 May.

An overnight closure, in both directions, will also take place on 30 May between 20:00 and 06:00 BST, the National Highways also confirmed.

Full diversions will be in place during the closures.

Following the initial incident, the M180 westbound was reduced to one lane to limit the risk of further impacts to the damaged area.

Asbestos was found during the investigations and a project to repair the concrete, replace the beams, parapet and joints and resurface the structure started in January.
