Man arrested over Saltcoats murder

A man has been arrested and charged in connection with a murder in North Ayrshire.

Alan Lawson died in hospital on 6 February after being found seriously injured at his home in Saltcoats.

The 36-year-old was understood to have been assaulted at a property in Largs before being left in Saltcoats.

A 29-year-old man is due to appear at Kilmarnock Sheriff Court regarding the death.

Footage of the attack on Mr Lawson is alleged to have been shared on social media platforms.

Armed officers closed off Canal Street in Saltcoats for a number of hours last Wednesday in connection with the case but did not make any arrests at the time.
