A man who killed his mother and left his father seriously hurt in a hammer attack has been sentenced to a hospital order.
Robert Orrey, 31, fatally wounded Claire Orrey and left Stephen Orrey badly injured at a property on Burnell Road in Admaston, Telford, on 30 July last year.
He pleaded guilty to manslaughter by reason of diminished responsibility and attempted murder at Stafford Crown Court in March.
He was sentenced at the same court on Friday.
West Mercia Police said Orrey was suffering from a mental health episode at the time of the attack.
Ms Orrey, a nurse, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Her husband had since recovered from his physical injuries, the force added.
'Dream mother'
Ms Orrey's daughter paid tribute to her in a statement issued through police.
“My mom radiated love and lit up the world around her with joy and laughter," she said.
"She was a wonderful wife, sister, daughter, aunt and grandmother who surrounded her family with happiness.
“She was a mother you could only dream to have, a friend to many and a tremendous role model in her nursing career.
“For us, life will never be complete without her, we will continue to miss her every second of the day."
