Shropshire Council has granted the MoD permission to demolish the building

A Shropshire military base has received permission to demolish one of its redundant accommodation blocks.

The Salmond accommodation block, also known as Building 12, at RAF Cosford, will be demolished to make space for new accommodation adjacent to the officers' mess building.

Permission to demolish the structure was granted by Shropshire Council on Tuesday after it gave notice prior approval was not required.

The Ministry of Defence (MoD) now has five years to complete the development before the permission expires.
