Former sex shop to become church

The shop, in Flood Street, has been left empty since the pandemic

A former sex shop is to become a church after a planning application was approved by Dudley Council.
The new centre, in Flood Street, sold sex toys and pornography before the Covid pandemic lockdown but will now be home to a cafe, foodbank, youth room, vestry and worship room with a capacity for 156 people.
Documents submitted to the council show the former shop and warehouse will host bible studies and counselling workshops two or three times a week.
Meanwhile the Sunday service is expected to host between 50 and 100 people every week.
Work on the new church can now go ahead after council officers approved the change of use application.
This news was gathered by the Local Democracy Reporting Service, which covers councils and other public service organisations.
