Man blinded in one eye after hockey stick attack

Ziggy Dunn (left) and Bartholomew Cronin were jailed for what police called an "incredibly violent" assault

Two men who attacked a man with a hammer and hockey stick and blinded him in his left eye have been jailed.
Bartholomew Cronin, 46, and Ziggy Dunn, 36, launched the assault on Dunn's neighbour in Lowick Gardens in Peterborough on 5 November.
The victim was installing a CCTV camera at his home to replace a damaged one when it happened, Cambridgeshire Police said.
Cronin, of Lutton Grove, was jailed for 32 months at Cambridge Crown Court, while Dunn, now of Manton in Bretton, was jailed for 40 months.
Police said Cronin came out of Dunn's house, in the Westwood area, and made what the victim took to be a threat.
When he went to speak to him about the threat, Cronin pulled out a hammer from his trouser waistband and waved it in the air, and Dunn then came running from his house with a hockey stick and the pair assaulted the man.
'Incredibly violent'
The victim got up but both defendants pushed him to the ground and Dunn used the hammer to hit him to the back of the head and also to the left eye, the force said.
Both men ran back to Dunn's property, before coming out again and threatening the victim, before making off.
Officers gave first aid to the victim before he was taken to Peterborough City Hospital.
Dunn returned to the scene and was arrested along with Cronin.
Both men pleaded guilty to grievous bodily harm without intent.
Det Con Elouise Hicks said: "This was an incredibly violent assault with weapons which has left the victim with lasting injuries, and its severity is reflected in the sentences handed to both men."
