Man charged over police officer's attempted murder

A 27-year-old man has been arrested and charged in connection with the attempted murder of a female police officer in West Dunbartonshire.

The arrest comes after officers attempted to stop a vehicle on Bannerman Place in Clydebank at about 21:00 on Sunday 5 January.

A female officer was hit by the vehicle as it was driven away.

She was taken to hospital for treatment and later released.

Police Scotland said the man was traced, arrested and charged on Friday.

He is due to appear at Paisley Sheriff Court on Monday.
