A teenage boy has been arrested on suspicion of burglary after two puppies were stolen from a house in Great Yarmouth.

Norfolk Police said the alleged theft took place in Tennyson Road between 23:00 BST on Tuesday and 06:00 this morning.

The stolen Staffordshire Bull Terrier puppies were found safe and well at an address in Great Yarmouth this afternoon and returned to their owner, the force added.

A teenage boy from the same address continues to be questioned by officers.

Last month, a new law was introduced, external in England which made cat and dog theft a criminal offence.

Anyone convicted could face a fine or a maximum of five years in prison.
