A live webcam has been installed at Guernsey's bathing pools so visitors can check conditions ahead of their arrival.

Vive La Vallette, the charity that runs the pools, was donated the webcam, external by the JT Community Giving scheme.

The charity said it had already received an "overwhelmingly positive response" from regular users.

Helen Bonner-Morgan, operations director at Vive La Vallette, said visitors had "real-time access to the weather and sea conditions, allowing them to plan their visits more effectively and arrive at the best times to enjoy the pools".

'Promotes safety'

Ms Bonner-Morgan said: "Some pool users have already told us how the live feed helps them to make the most of their lunch time and builds excitement for their swim.

"We believe it enhances the overall experience, but importantly it also promotes safety by enabling visitors to make informed decisions."

Vive La Vallette said it was "very grateful" to the JT Community Giving scheme "for seeing the potential and supporting this installation".

Pip Carpenter, from the scheme, said the addition ensured the pools remained "accessible and safe for year-round enjoyment".
