An overflow car park at a Guernsey beach has been reopened until the end of summer holidays.

The overflow car park near Grandes Rocques was originally closed by the States for the restoration of coastal grassland habitats in the area.

The States said: "Due to unforeseen delays in the coastal grassland habitat restoration project at Grandes Rocques, the land has been temporarily reopened for use as a seasonal overflow car park until the end of the summer holidays.

"The area, as planned, will be permanently closed from that point onward."

It said the restoration project would boost the biodiversity of the area and provide a link for nature between the end of the headland and other nearby areas.
