Two men have appeared in court after gunshots were fired in a Doncaster suburb.

South Yorkshire Police said firearms officers responded to reports of weapons being discharged on Hawthorne Grove, Bentley, on Sunday, with no reports of any injuries.

The men, aged 24 and 21, were charged with arson with intent to endanger life and possessing a firearm with intent to cause fear of violence.

The pair, from the Scawsby and Balby areas of Doncaster, were remanded in custody at Sheffield Magistrates' Court on Tuesday.

They are next due to appear at Sheffield Crown Court on 24 January.
