Pedestrian dies in two-vehicle crash on A19

A pedestrian has died in a crash involving two vehicles.

It happened on the A19 northbound carriageway, close to the A689 slip road at Wolviston services, at 20:55 GMT on Saturday.

The victim, who has not yet been formally identified, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Cleveland Police said the two vehicles were a Vauxhall Corsa and Vauxhall Movano van and has appealed for witnesses.

Officers are also appealing to anyone who may have seen a male, dressed in dark clothing, walking along the A19, Durham Road, A1027 or Junction Road between 17:30 and 20:55 GMT.
