A woman suffered facial injuries when she was hit with a metal pole in a Derbyshire town centre.

Police said they were called to reports of an assault in Nottingham Road, Alfreton, at about 23:40 BST on Friday.

The woman, who is in her 20s, was taken to hospital with serious facial injuries, while two other people - a man in his 20s and and a woman in her 30s - were also assaulted, the force said.

Officers confirmed their injuries were not serious or life-threatening and appealed for witnesses to come forward.
