A main road in Cornwall will close to allow a new flyover to partially open.

The A30 between Chybucca and Scorrier will close from 20:00 GMT on Thursday and open on Friday at 06:00 GMT, alongside part of the flyover.

Bosses said: "The partial opening of the flyover will see one lane of east-west traffic in either direction bypassing the interchange, external without queuing and will also improve local journeys north and south as drivers will no longer have to interact with the A30 mainline traffic."

Plans to open part of the Chiverton flyover last week were delayed due to heavy rain.

Road improvements are being made on an eight-mile (13km) stretch of the A30 between Chiverton and Carland Cross.

National Highways said: "This is a major milestone for the project as it will help to alleviate congestion around the new Chiverton interchange and move the project one step closer to completion."
