Leeds Bradford Airport has reopened its runway after it was closed overnight due to an "unforeseen issue".

In an update at 06:00 BST the airport said the runway had been repaired and flights were now operating, though some delays continued.

Passengers should arrive as planned unless an airline advises otherwise, the statement added.

The closure affected arrivals and departures at the site, with passengers told to check flight information with their airlines.

Earlier, a spokesperson for the airport said: "The safety and comfort of the passengers travelling through our terminal is our number one priority.

"Our team is on the ground in the terminal to answer any customer queries regarding departures."

No further details were given regarding the issue with the runway.
