Firefighters put out heath fire at beauty spot

A heathland blaze that broke out at a beauty spot in Devon has been extinguished, the fire service has said.

The "large" fire broke out near a model airfield at Woodbury Common in Exmouth at about 10:30 BST, Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service said.

Firefighters had urged people to avoid the area, with the fire spreading across 100m.

The fire was extinguished shortly after 12:30.

Eight fire engines, two water carriers and one high volume pump were sent to tackle the blaze.
