Overnight closures for A46 resurfacing work

A section of a major road on the outskirts of Leicester will be resurfaced in the coming weeks.
National Highways said work to the A46 between the M1 at Junction 21a and the A607 junction will take place from 16 September until 1 October.
The work will require a number of overnight closures between 20:00 and 06:00 BST.
National Highways said the project will give road users “a safer, smoother journey” when completed.
A spokesperson said: “We’ll make every effort to ensure the impact on the local community and travelling public is kept to a minimum.
“We always aim to work to the programme, however unforeseen circumstances or adverse weather conditions may mean changes.
“Please accept our apologies in advance for any inconvenience this may cause.”
Five nights of closures will begin on 16 September, three overnight closures in a row will be needed from 23 September, and two closures are planned for September 30 and 1 October.
Diversions will be signposted during the closures, said National Highways.
The resurfacing follows an extensive 11-month programme to upgrade the A46 between Six Hills to Widmerpool in Nottinghamshire, which finished in August.
