A burst pipe has sent water spurting high into the air in Derby city centre.

Shoppers were caught by surprise when the water flew into the sky from roadworks in St Peter's Street on Thursday afternoon.

A spokesperson from Severn Trent Water said its priority was to "get everything back to normal as soon as possible".

They added: "We've been made aware of an issue on St Peter's Street in Derby City Centre and our teams are on their way to investigate."
